Patience Mable Carter

Patience M. Carter, age 90, passed away early Christmas morning, December 25, 2012, at her home near Warsaw, Missouri. She was born in Coffeyville, Kansas, on January 29, 1922, the daughter of Dewey and Gladys Qualls Freeman.

She grew up in southern Illinois and graduated from high school there. In 1941 she was united in marriage to Paul L. Ballance. They made their home in Kansas City, Missouri. Unto this union one son and five daughters were born. Paul Ballance preceded her in death in 1959.

She was then married to Fred S. Carter at Marshall, Missouri. They made their home in Kansas City until moving to their home in Sportsman's Paradise near Warsaw, Missouri, in 1977. Fred preceded her in death on July 6, 1983. She continued to make her home at Sportman's Paradise.

Patience is survived by one son, James Ballance, of Independence, Missouri; four daughters, Wilma Taylor, Paula L. Osborn, and her husband, Albert, Kay Ballance, and Billie Mae Ballance, all of Warsaw; two step-sons, Shanon Carter, of the state of Texas, James W. Carter, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and one step-daughter, Celia Carter, of Lee's Summit; 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Freeman and Kenneth Freeman, both of Las Vegas, Nevada; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri.

Grave Side Funeral Services and Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, at the Shawnee Cemetery near Warsaw with Rev. Eugene Gouge officiating. Dinner will follow at the Warsaw Community Building

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the hospice of your choice.
