Gary Wayne Taylor, age 51, of Warsaw, passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 4, 2011 near Cole Camp, M0. He was born on August 20, 1959, in Rawlins, Wyoming, the son of Leonard W. and Mary Elizabeth Lorenson Taylor.

At the age of 5 he moved with his family to Kansas City, MO, until moving to Warsaw in 1974. He graduated from Warsaw High School with the class of 1977.

On October 1, 1977, he was united in marriage to Deborah Runyon at the First Baptist Church of Warsaw and received the Sacrament of marriage at St. Ann’s Catholic Church soon afterwards.

They made their home in Warsaw and unto this union, three children were born.

Gary had worked as a carpenter in the Kansas City area for almost a year and then began working for the Missouri Department of Conservation where he had retired after 31 years on May 30, 2010. He continued to work for the Missouri Department of Conservation from February of this year until his untimely death.

On October 31, 2010, he had taken a retirement cruise to Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and Cozumel where he swam with the dolphins. He enjoyed grilling outdoors and playing with his family in the pool. For the past 25 years, he has enjoyed family trips to Branson.

Gary was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church of Warsaw and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Charlene Spears on September 25, 2004, a granddaughter, Rhiannon Taylor on December 27, 2006, and his father, Leonard Taylor on June 23, 2008.

Surviving is his wife, who he adored, Debbie, of the home, three children, Michael Wayne Taylor and wife, Sarah Cate, of Warsaw, Dr. Sarah Ellen Taylor, and future son-in-law, Tristen See, of Clinton, and Ethan Gary Taylor, and future daughter-in-law, Kayla Jackson, of Kansas City, MO, Ethan's best friend and "special son" to Gary, Scott Kirby, a great-granddaughter, Addison Nicole Taylor, his mother, Mary Taylor, of Warsaw, three brothers, Bobby Taylor (Vicki) of Rawlins, Wyoming, Donald Taylor (Debbie) of Liberty, MO and David Taylor of Kansas City, MO, five sisters, Patty Demel (Ed) of Lenexa, KS, Mary Gawron (Joe) of Kansas City, MO, Paula Stringfield, of Grandview, MO, Kathy Howe (Skip) of Warsaw and Darla Smith (Randy) of Edwards, MO, three God-children, Andrew Gawron, Adam Howe and Neil Howe, 34 nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law, Luke Runyon and a father-in-law, Robert Runyon (Dorothy), all of Apache Junction, AZ, his step-father-in-law, John Spears, of Warsaw, and many, many friends.

Funeral services and mass will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 9, 2011, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Warsaw, with Fr. Keith Branson, officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery, Warsaw, MO. No visitation. The family suggest memorial contributions may be made to the St. Luke’s Hospital NICU in honor of his granddaughter, Rhiannon Cate Taylor.
